My most recent book (written with Roger Clark) is an Open Educational Resources (OER) text for sociological data aalysis courses, Social Data Analysis: Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches.

My prior book, Law and Justice Around the World: A Comparative Approach, was published in February 2020 by the University of California Press. You can view a webinar on Policing in Comparative Perspective, sponsored by the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association, that draws on Chapter 5 of the book, at this link.

More broadly, my research focuses on higher education, especially issues related to the comprehensive college. I am also involved in the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a particular focus on educational justice for first-generation college students. In addition, I am interested in writing about sociology for broader audiences, including both pedagogical resources and broad-access publications. My earlier body of research focused on social movements, particularly contentious action and social change within colleges and universities.
